Common questions about Florida commercial business insurance

What coverage does a small business need?

Most start with a Business Owners Policy combining general liability and property, then add workers' comp, commercial auto and professional or cyber liability as needed.

Is workers' comp required in Florida?

Generally yes once you have four or more employees — and at one employee in construction. We'll confirm the rules for your industry.

How fast can I get a certificate of insurance?

Usually the same business day once coverage is bound. Many clients get them within an hour.

Can you review my current policies?

Absolutely. We regularly find gaps, duplicate coverage and better pricing during a no cost commercial review.

What is a Business Owners Policy (BOP)?

A BOP bundles general liability with commercial property coverage, and often business interruption, at a lower cost than buying them separately. It is designed for small to mid-sized businesses with typical risk profiles; larger or specialized operations need a package or monoline placement.

What is general liability versus professional liability?

General liability responds to bodily injury and property damage you cause to others — a customer slip and fall, or damage at a job site. Professional liability (errors and omissions) responds to financial harm from your advice, services or work product. Service businesses generally need both.

Do I need commercial auto if employees use their own cars?

Yes — hired and non-owned auto liability. Your personal auto policy will not respond to a business use claim, and the business remains exposed when an employee drives on company errands.

Does my business need cyber liability coverage?

If you store customer data, take payments, or depend on email and cloud systems, yes. Cyber policies cover breach response, notification costs, ransomware, business interruption and social engineering fraud, none of which a general liability policy addresses.

What is business interruption coverage?

It replaces lost income and covers continuing expenses while your property is being repaired after a covered loss. In Florida, confirm how it responds to hurricane damage and whether civil authority and utility interruption extensions are included.
